Junior Event Camp: July 16 (Friday) - July 20 (Tuesday)

Our Event camps are an excellent way to start eventing or to move up a level. We offer
comprehensive and correct instruction in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. With many areas to
ride including sand ring, 2 dressage rings, a 5 level cross country course and a lovely show
jumping field, we offer room for everyone to learn as much as possible.
Sally Scheindel, our resident dressage instructor and trainer, makes flatwork exciting, challenging
and fun, giving each student the help they need to achieve success in the dressage ring. Preparing
for the actual test is a big part of the flatwork that’s done.

Jumping instruction takes place with Laurie Hudson, trainer, instructor and organizer of the HPF
events. Each student is given the opportunity to become very comfortable with the height and
difficulty of what they are jumping, enabling them to move ahead with confidence. Our courses
range from 18’ (Grasshopper) to 3’7” (Preliminary) offering lots of versatility for even the most
experienced riders. The show jumping is situated in a natural amphitheater, perfect for setting up
all kinds of courses and gymnastics. Our emphasis is on creating safe, confident riders who are
ready to compete at the appropriate level.
As well, the miles of dirt roads offer all riders the opportunity to go out for a nice relaxing
hack or a strenuous conditioning ride. Due to our limit on participants (20 for juniors & 12 for
adults) we are able to focus more on individual participants and their needs and concerns.

HPF is located on the White River and very nearby to Silver Lake in Barnard VT, so campers should
come prepared to cool off in their swimsuits at least a couple of times during the week.
The junior camp is followed on Wednesday by an HPF schooling trial,
the adult camp is followed on Saturday by a limited entry HPF schooling trial, so the day will
not be too long. Stabling is included in the cost of camp, sawdust only provided. Entries are
included. Cost of camp is $900. Housing is available for juniors at no additional cost.
Housing is at the home of Laurie Hudson’s mom and her family, located across the road from the
barn. 3 meals per day are provided, but any specially loved snacks or goodies should be brought
along. This year we are offering housing to adults through Pat and Steve Read at their Round
Robin Farm, located one mile from HPF. Lodging will be “camp style” and include breakfast and
dinner. Cost is $60 per night. We need a minimum of 5 campers for this arrangement, so if
interested, please let us know so we can help with alternate housing plans. For further info
contact either Laurie or Pat Read at roundrobinfarm@yahoo.com.
Entries should be ready to hand in upon arrival at camp, any questions concerning divisions can
answered then or we can wait to decide if necessary.
Any further questions can be directed to Laurie Hudson for more information.
