Open schooling day with courses prepared for competition (decorated!) with 2 show jumping courses, all cross country jumps marked by division and direction, and dressage rings available. Coaches are welcome and we are also offering coaching in blocks of 20, 30 or 60 minute sessions with Janine McClain. You need to call to reserve a slot for coaching. Gates open at 9 am and close at 3 pm. Check in at arrival to a sign release.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Grasshopper (JR. and SR.): 8 fences in one field, not to exceed 18"

Beginner Novice (JR. and SR.): 8-12 fences up to 2'6", approx. 1000 - 1500 m, no time

Novice (JR. and SR.): 12-16 fences up to 2'11", approx. 1800 - 2000 m, 350 mpm

Training (JR. and SR.): 3'3" max (1/2 training 1/2 novice)

Preliminary (JR. and SR.): 3'7" max (1/2 prelim 1/2 training XC)



STADIUM JUMPING

Grasshopper (JR. and SR.): no more than 8 fences in one field, not to exceed 18"

Beginner Novice (JR. and SR.): Max. 8 jumping efforts, fences up to 2'6", no time

Novice (JR. and SR.): Max. 10 jumping efforts, fences up to 2'11", 325 mpm


ENTRY FEES:

$85.00 all divisions, stabling $45

Trophy and 8 ribbons per division.

Entries close two weeks before each trial.

Entry fee is $100.00 for entries received after closing date.

No refunds after closing date.

POLICIES AND REGULATIONS

Hitching Post Farm Schooling Trials are run under the rules of the USEA and though the trials are for schooling purposes, all rules will be followed, and any changes will be made only at the discretion of the management. If you are unfamiliar with these rules, the organizers of these horse trials strongly recommend that you become familiar with all rules pertaining to the sport of eventing. Applications for membership and rulebooks can be obtained through: USEA, 525 Old Waterford Road, NW, Leesburg, VA 20176, www.eventingusa.com.

HPF strongly recommends membership in the USEA. As members you will receive the USEA Omnibus, USEA Rule Book, Medical Card and US Eventing magazine among other benefits. HPF Schooling Trials are a wonderful way to gain experience in eventing and we invite any and all participants, parents and owners to join us in volunteering.   1. Proper headgear is required at all times when mounted (helmets with soft visor and chin strap).
  2. Protective vests are required for the cross-country phase. (If you don't own one, borrow from a friend.)
  3. No calling dressage tests.
  4. No unauthorized assistance on the course at any time.
  5. Warm-up gear prohibits use of chambons, standing martingales, balancing reins, etc. See USEA for rules for full listing.
  6. Stabling may be available - contact farm holding trial.
  7. No refunds after closing date.



DIRECTIONS TO HITCHING POST

From I-89, take exit 3. Turn left off ramp onto Rte. 107. Go 1/4 mile. Turn right onto Rte. 14 South. Go 1/4 mile. Just past Fox Stand Inn, turn right, go down a hill, across a railroad track and across a bridge. Immediately after bridge, turn left. Go one mile. Turn left onto Back River Road. (See HPF sign.) Go one mile. Farm is on left.
